Guaranteed Admissions Agreement

The Guaranteed Admissions Agreement is an agreement between the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) Institutions and Richard Bland College and Mason. There are a number of requirements to fulfill this agreement that must be met exactly in order to qualify for guaranteed admissions. This provides a clear process for students who wish to transfer to Mason after obtaining their AA, AS, or AA&S degree. Applying under the GAA is not a requirement for students transferring from these institutions, though it is a beneficial option for those who are looking to complete their associate’s degree prior to attending Mason. Transfer students who successfully enter Mason through the GAA may obtain a General Education Waiver for the lower level Mason Core Requirements.  Every transfer student, regardless of the method they entered Mason, receives a course-by-course evaluation of their credit.  However, students with the General Education Waiver will not be required to fulfill lower level requirements from the Mason Core if they were not already fulfilled with their transferred credits. Please note that there may be further limitations on the waiver for certain majors if your major requires specific Mason Core classes be fulfilled for your degree requirements.
